The Lake Washington Kangaroos are taking a road trip to challenge the Redmond Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Washington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Redmond's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Lake Washington is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Issaquah on Friday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Kangaroos haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Lake Washington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Mehlberg, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Redmond came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 13-1 victory. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Cougars on their field since April 19, 2022.
Hiroshi Johnson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Redmond got a massive performance out of Lance Burt, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Burt has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brandon Dayberry, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Redmond's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Lake Washington was able to grind out a solid win over Redmond in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, winning 5-0. Do the Kangaroos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
