Beaufort's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayward, who went 6-for-15 on her way to 25 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds. Hayward continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Carson Crosby was another key player, putting up six points and seven steals.
Beaufort smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Airport didn't have too much trouble with Brookland-Cayce on Wednesday as they won 47-31. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Bearcats are ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Airport's win came from a few key players Beaufort will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Angel Mayes, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Ciara Cooke, who put up ten points.
Beaufort pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Beaufort suffered a grim 50-27 defeat to Airport when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Will Beaufort have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
