Incline has gone 10-0 against Pershing County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Incline Highlanders will head out on the road to face off against the Pershing County Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Incline is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Sierra Lutheran 77-59 on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Highlanders who have now won four contests in a row.
It was another big night for Tommy Williams, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and ten boards. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Incline's points. Another player making a difference was Colin Combs, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and five rebounds.
Incline was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Pershing County had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Coral Academy of Science - Reno to the tune of 65-17 on Tuesday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.
Pershing County's win came from a few key players Incline will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Travis Donaldson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Efrain Aceves, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.
Incline's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Pershing County, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Incline has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pershing County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Incline took their win against Pershing County in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 55-32. Will Incline repeat their success, or does Pershing County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
