Even though The Orange Cove Titans scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, the Orosi Cardinals still came out on top. Orosi won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Orange Cove 35-34. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Orosi was the better team in the second half.
Orosi's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Camarillo, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 70 receiving yards. Camarillo was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 69 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Lopez, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes.
Orosi's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Orange Cove, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 5-5.
Orosi has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Hoover will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Orange Cove, they will head out on the road to face off against Avenal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Avenal comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
