Baseball Recap: East Iberville Has No Trouble Against Southern Lab

After only two runs in their last game, East Iberville made sure to put some runs up on the board against Southern Lab on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Kittens 12-2. Considering the Tigers have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cort Willis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. East Iberville is undefeated when Willis posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, East Iberville got a massive performance out of Chene Thompson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Thompson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Melancon, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

East Iberville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Lab only posted an OBP of .345.

East Iberville's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Southern Lab, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

As of now, neither East Iberville nor Southern Lab have any future games scheduled.
