Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Holly Hill Academy's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Holly Hill Academy barely beat Jefferson Davis Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Holly Hill Academy blew past Jefferson Davis Academy 16-4 on Wednesday. Holly Hill Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.

Taylor Wright made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Wright was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Holly Hill Academy got a massive performance out of Abby Burleson, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI and three runs. Kaylee Brabham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Holly Hill Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive games.

Holly Hill Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holly Hill Academy will square off against St. John's Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Colleton Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
