Moline and Geneseo are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Maroons will head out on the road to take on the Maple Leafs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Last Thursday, Moline got the win against Alleman by a conclusive 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Maroons, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kayley Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

Brooke Young
| 04/03/25 @ Alleman | 2 |
| 03/31/25 @ Rock Falls | 1 |
| 03/21/25 @ Sherrard | 1 |
| 04/11/24 @ Galesburg | 1 |
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Young, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Sibley, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Young wasn't the only one making solid contact: Moline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Geneseo entered their tilt with Galesburg on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They never let the Silver Streaks get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory. That 23 run margin sets a new team best for the Maple Leafs this season.
Lydia King and Kendyl Wassenhove made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, King pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wassenhove tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, King scored two runs while going 1-for-1, while Wassenhove went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Avery Kennedy was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. McKenna Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Geneseo pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Moline, their record is now 3-7.
Moline might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Geneseo in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Maroons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
