The Stranahan Mighty Dragons entered their tilt with the Miramar Patriots with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Stranahan walked away with a 56-47 victory over the Patriots on Wednesday. Given Stranahan's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Patriots are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stranahan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Yeargin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Esron Simeon, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Joshua Skinner and Nehemiah Jean-Charles certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Skinner scored 13 points along with five rebounds, while Jean-Charles scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Williams, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Stranahan pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Miramar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.
Stranahan's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cobras at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Boyd Anderson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Miramar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cooper City has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three contests.
