Rio Vista is 1-7 against Italy since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rio Vista Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Italy Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. Rio Vista has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27.
Last Friday, Rio Vista was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-39 to Itasca.
Despite the loss, Rio Vista saw an underclassman step up: Shiloh Johnson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalli West, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Italy came up short against Valley Mills on Friday and fell 32-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Italy in their matchups with Valley Mills: they've now lost four in a row.
Rio Vista has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season. As for Italy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.
Rio Vista came up short against Italy when the teams last played on January 5th, falling 40-36. Can Rio Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
