Basketball Recap: Camden Comes Up Short

Camden lost against South Pointe back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Camden Bulldogs took a hard 61-47 fall against the South Pointe Stallions. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Stallions are ranked 44th).

Despite the loss, Camden still got an impressive performance from Jahmarie Mcleod, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards. Mcleod continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jymere Lee, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Camden smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Treven Raymon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Pointe, dropping a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Raymon now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Ry'Darius Hill, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

Camden has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for South Pointe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.

Camden has already played their next contest, a 66-49 defeat against Trinity Collegiate on the 4th. As for South Pointe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 83-40 win against York on the 4th.
