There's no place like home for the Laurel Christian Lions, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Sylva Bay Academy by a score of 38-29 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Laurel Christian also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Laurel Christian was led to victory by Emma Risher and Jaylyn Holifield. Risher scored ten points, while Holifield scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holifield has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Sylva Bay Academy saw an underclassman step up: Sydney Poole scored five points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcy Griffin, who scored seven points.
Laurel Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.
Laurel Christian will be playing at home against Prentiss Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Prentiss Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Discovery Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Discovery Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
