Volleyball Recap: Belleville West Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Belleville West got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the Alton Redbirds by a score of 2-0. The Maroons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Redbirds, too.

Belleville West easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-18.

J'La Sparks paced Belleville West's offense, picking up seven kills. Sparks got some help from Molly Duncan and her 17 assists. Chloe Schutzenhofer and Mia Leech kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Belleville West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Alton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Belleville West is set to take on their familiar foe East St. Louis at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Alton will face off against rival Belleville East at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
