Basketball Game Preview: Central City Bison vs. Arcadia/Loup City Rebels

The Central City Bison and the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Central City's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Arcadia/Loup City's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Central City will head into Thursday's match on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Fillmore Central on Thursday. Central City breezed by Fillmore Central to the tune of 61-30. The Bison have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 31 points or more this season.

Central City can attribute much of their success to Sydni Homolka, who posted 19 points, and Reagan Fousek, who scored 14 points. The dominant performance gave Homolka a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Hope Paup, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, Arcadia/Loup City hadn't done well against Wood River recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Arcadia/Loup City walked away with a 44-36 win over Wood River.

Central City better focus on containing Tayler Obermiller and Eva Jaixen as the pair were huge in Arcadia/Loup City's win. Obermiller went 5 of 11 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds, while Jaixen had ten points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Central City's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.2 points per game. As for Arcadia/Loup City, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Central City didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Arcadia/Loup City in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 44-38 victory. Will Central City repeat their success, or does Arcadia/Loup City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
