The Incline Highlanders had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They snuck past Battle Mountain with a 21-16 victory. This was payback for Incline, who suffered a 26-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Incline was led to victory by Colin Combs and Tommy Williams. Combs picked up 204 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Williams threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns. Combs' longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Incline's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Silver Stage and 3-6 West Wendover (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.3% over those games). As for Battle Mountain, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.
Incline will head out on the road to face off against Lake Mead Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lake Mead Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 385 points over their last seven contests. Battle Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
