Tygarts Valley extended their winning streak to five on Monday, bumping their season record up to 14-7 in the process. They put the hurt on the Webster County Highlanders with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.
Adam Woods was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Tygarts Valley: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Tygarts Valley got a massive performance out of Austin Gear, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Gear is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Noah Mcatee also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Tygarts Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Webster County only posted an OBP of .346.
As for Webster County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11. They haven't had much luck with Tygarts Valley recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
On Webster County's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kalob Amos, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Looking ahead, Tygarts Valley will head out on the road to challenge Pendleton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Webster County, they will welcome Greater Beckley Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
