With state championships being decided across the country, this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school softball rankings feature big-time performances, unforgettable moments and new teams breaking through. From walk-off winners in South Carolina to dominant pitching performances in Texas and California, the chase for the final No. 1 ranking is heating up.

Melissa held off a late rally by
Barbers Hill (Mt. Belvieu) to secure a 4-2 win and claim its second straight Texas Conference 5A Division 1 state title. The Cardinals plated three runs in the top of the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh. Sophomore
Eloisa Maes struck out seven, including the final batter, to seal the win and strengthen their national championship resume.
Elsewhere in Texas, No. 4
Lake Creek (Montgomery) capped a perfect season with a dominant 12-1 win over
Hallsville to take home the 5A Division 2 title. Star pitcher
Sara Wiggins was lights-out once again, striking out 11 and surrendering just one hit in the victory.
No. 8
Coahoma made history by becoming the first Texas program to win three consecutive state championships. Texas commits
Mia Clemmer and
Hannah Wells both homered in a 6-1 win over Lexington.
No. 14
Kingwood earned its first state championship and a spot in the MaxPreps Top 25 after a 4-1 victory over
Forney.
Hunter Quentel, who has been outstanding all year went the distance in the circle while striking out seven and launching a two-run home run to help deliver the title.
In California, No. 5
Norco claimed the Southern Section Division 1 championship with a 3-0 win over
El Modena (Orange) in a pitcher's duel.
Coral Williams of Norco and
Sara Pinedo of El Modena kept things scoreless until
Savannah Gonzalez broke through with a RBI.
Dillyn Eckenrod and
Leighton Gray added insurance runs and that was all the Cougars needed to take home the crown.

Catawba Ridge (Fort Mill) completed a three-peat in South Carolina with a two-game sweep of St. James. Clemson commit
Sarah Rocheleau delivered the knockout punch with a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to clinch the title.
Staying in South Carolina, In one of the most thrilling finishes of the week, No. 22
Byrnes (Florence) staged a stunning comeback in a best-of-three series against previous No. 2
Summerville in one of the most thrilling finishes of the week. After dropping the opener 3-0, the Rebels bounced back with two one-run victories. In the decisive third game, Addy Waters delivered a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth to drive in Kara Davis and Addie Durrah for a 5-4 win and the Class 5A Division 1 state championship.
