PG&E has shut off power some 500,000 customers as Northern California is in a historic shutdown because of fire danger. Teams could be forced to play Saturday afternoon is power is out for any Friday night games.

Update: The Spartans beat state-ranked Monte Vista 49-14 as
Shamar Garrett had a 76-yard punt return for a score and ran for 116 yads. De La Salle extended its unbeaten streak against NorCal teams north of Fresno to 304 (with two ties). De La Salle also this season has a 42-27 win over No. 2 Folsom. The Spartans are 389-5-2 against NorCal opponents since 1984. They have won 27 consecutive North Coast Section crowns and have been to 12 successive CIF State finals (those games started in 2006) and 10 in succession in the elite Open Division.

League: Sierra Foothill
Coach: Paul Doherty
Update: The two-time defending CIF State Division I-AA champion Bulldogs, the top-ranked team by The Sacramento Bee, trailed in the second half and then pulled away from Rocklin 42-20 despite a season-high six turnovers in extending their overall league winning streak to 43 and to 39 in the SFL.

Ari Patu played well at quarterback and
Elijhah Badger had 186 yards receiving and two scores. The loss this season was 42-27 to De La Salle. Folsom is 131-11 this decade with four CIF State banners, seven section titles and two 14-0 teams that lost to De La Salle in the since-dropped NorCal Open Division finals in 2012 and 2013.

Update: Two time CIF Northern California winners in recent years, Serra rolled Bellarmine 37-0 after it was 32-0 at the half as

Vince Poni and
Nate Sanchez reached the end zone. The Padres have big wins this season over St. Mary's, (56-28), Pittsburg (58-21) and Menlo-Atherton (38-13). Serra and Valley Christian are this section's top teams.

Update: The defending CCS Open Division II champions beat St. Ignatius 17-7 after trailing by a point in the fourth quarter before
Michael Corini scored twice. A big early win was 23-13 over Wilcox. Rival Serra is the team to look for in the WCAL scramble.

League: Bay Valley
Coach: Ryan Partridge
Update: The defending CIF State 1-A champion Lions beat Antioch 26-0 as the defense dominated, allowing 23 yards passing and 32 on the ground. Earlier wins were over Clayton Valley Charter, Vacaville and Oakdale.

6. (8) Inderkum (Sacramento), 6-0Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Capital Valley
Coach: Terry Stark
Update: The Tigers rolled Woodcreek 71-9 as
Aaron Espero ran for two scores and reached the end zone off a fumble recovery, and the defense forced five fumbles. An earlier win was over Elk Grove. Coach Terry Stark recently won his 225th career game.

7. (11) Pittsburg, 6-1Section: North Coast
League: Bay Valley
Coach: Vic Galli
Update: The Pirates beat Freedom 49-33 as
Jerry Johnson tossed three touchdown passes to set the program record for scoring tosses in a single season with 22. An earlier big win was over Wilcox 35-31. The loss was to Serra. Pittsburg is the last NorCal program to defeat De La Salle, doing so in the 1991 North Coast Section finals.

Coach: Paul Rosa
Update: The defending CIF State 3-A champion Chargers beat unbeaten Los Gatos 37-0 to seize control of the league race as
Paul Rosa, son of the coach, earned Homecoming King honors, ran for nearly 200 yards and scored two touchdowns. One loss was 35-31 to Pittsburg and the other was to Valley Christian 23-13.

Update: The Thunder forced six Folsom turnovers but ran out of steam late and fell 42-20 a week after beating previous NorCal No. 6 Oak Ridge 28-22 (Oak Ridge has a three-point loss to Folsom this season).

League: Sierra Foothill
Coach: Eric Cavaliere
Update: The Trojans bounced back from tough and close losses of three to Folsom and six to Rocklin to roll Grant 45-23.
Justin Lamson passed for 293 yards and two touchdowns and
Dylan Warfield ran for 103 and two scores.

Update: The Grizzlies beat Clayton Valley Charter 17-14 as
Teddy Booras found
Belal Alatasi for the winning touchdown pass with under a minute to play on 4th and 10. This league also includes De La Salle and Monte Vista.

Update: The Cardinals beat Rancho Cotate 24-14 as
Jackson Pavitt ran for a score and passed for one, and
Shane Moran rushed for 139 yards. The loss was 17-13 to Liberty. The lone loss a year ago was to Liberty. This program in the 1970s had the state record for consecutive wins at 47.

League: Metro
Coach: TJ Ewing
Update: The Mustangs rolled River City 70-7 as
Viktor Timonin tossed three touchdown passes and
Chris Lands ran for 172 yards and two scores to open league play. The loss was a 36-35 setback to upstart Cosumnes Oaks. The Mustangs lost to Folsom in the section Division I finals in 2018.

Update: The Warriors of the East Bay were idle. An earlier win was 19-7 over Marin Catholic. McClymonds has won two CIF State titles since 2016 with a 12-0 team in 2010, a 12-1 team in 2015 and going 12-2 a year ago.

Update: The Wildcats beat Terra Linda 53-6 as
Matteo Perez ran for 255 yards and four scores on nine carries. The loss was 19-7 to McClymonds. Marin Catholic teams have had teams go 12-1, 14-1, 14-2, 13-1, 12-2 and 12-1 this decade.

Update: The Ugly Eagles lost to unbeaten California 17-14 in their first East Bay contest despite 129 yards rushing by
Makhi Gervais. The other loss was 28-27 in overtime to Liberty. CVC has had seasons of 12-2, 11-2, 15-1, 13-2 and two 9-2 seasons this decade.

League: East Bay

Update: The Mustangs trailed top-ranked De La Salle 14-7 after one and 28-14 at the half before falling 49-14. The other loss was to Liberty 24-21, undone by a tying field-goal attempt that hit the upright. An early big win was over Granite Bay.

League: Central California
Coach: Kevin Navarra
Update: The Thunder blasted El Capitan 64-0 as the team rushed 41 times for 442 yards and eight touchdowns with eight different rushers. Buhach Colony's best teams were the 12-1 outfits in 2010 and 2011, though this one is getting into that best-yet argument.

Update: The Knights beat Miramonte 49-7 after edging Vanden 21-20. Las Lomas went 1-19 during the 2015 and 2016 seasons and went 12-1 last season.

Update: The Thundering Herd beat Pleasant Grove 62-21 as
Carter Harris rushed for 184 yards on just six touches and three touchdowns. The loss was by two in an opener to undefeated Inderkum. A big win was 42-35 over Davis. This has been a power since the late 1980s.

Taylor Vaughn ran for 109 and 137 yards, respectively, with three combined scores. This is the best Davis team since the 1990s. The loss was to Elk Grove 42-35 in a Delta opener.
