On Tuesday, the Layton Lancers faced the Weber Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Layton came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 82-70. The win was familiar territory for Layton who now have five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Layton to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Katoa, who scored 32 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Katoa has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Martin, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds.
Layton's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.9 points per game. As for Weber, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-5.
Layton will head out on the road to take on the Silverwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fremont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Lancers likes a good challenge. As for Weber, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Darts at 7:00 p.m. Davis is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
