St. John is 0-8 against Burke since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The St. John's Islanders will head out on the road to challenge the Burke Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m.
Last Friday, St. John's came up short against Cross and fell 56-43. St. John's has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Burke gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They put the hurt on Palmetto Scholars Academy with a sharp 60-38 victory. Given Burke's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Palmetto Scholars Academy is ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. John's has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Burke, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.
St. John's suffered a grim 50-26 defeat to Burke when the teams last played on January 3rd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Burke's Terry Jenkins, who scored 14 points along with six blocks and five steals. Now that St. John's knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
