Owen is 8-2 against Madison since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Owen Warhorses will head out on the road to challenge the Madison Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Friday, Owen took a serious blow against Avery County, falling 77-25. While losing is never fun, Owen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 507th, while Avery County is ranked 219th).
Owen's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ellie Martin, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Hayden Koone who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Madison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. Their rough 46-24 defeat to Avery County might stick with them for a while. Madison was down 37-16 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Owen has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.
Things could have been worse for Owen, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-54 loss to Madison in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Can Owen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
