The Westbrook Blue Blazes's nine-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over Fryeburg. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Westbrook also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Westbrook was led to victory by Kylie Young and Lyla Dunphe. Young scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Dunphe scored 14 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dunphe has scored all season. Taylar Hodge was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Westbrook's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Fryeburg, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Westbrook will stay at home for another game and welcome Deering at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maine (Deering is ranked 57th, while Westbrook is ranked 70th). As for Fryeburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brunswick is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.
