Basketball Recap: South Drops Season-High Score on Independence

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South). Everything went their way against the Independence 76ers on Tuesday as the South Bulldogs made off with a 78-52 win. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 57-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the 76ers had little chance of recovering from.

South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Glover led the charge by putting up 18 points. Marquan Felts-Lipsey was another key player, posting 14 points.

When it comes to explaining why Independence lost, don't look at Malik Ferguson. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Torreon Gordon-Suggs, who earned nine points.

The victory made it two in a row for South and bumps their season record up to 8-5. As for Independence, they are on a 35-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-52 win against Eastmoor Academy on the 17th. Independence has also already played their next match, a 57-55 defeat against Shekinah Christian on the 16th.
