Even though the Cambridge Academy Cougars have not done well against the King Academy Knights recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cambridge Academy simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat King Academy 57-27 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Cambridge Academy has managed all season.
Leading Cambridge Academy to victory were Maddox Lee and Andrew Wiley. Lee scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists, while Wiley dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Wiley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Funderburk, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Cambridge Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for King Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cambridge Academy will take on Newberry Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for King Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Anderson Christian at 6:15 p.m. Anderson Christian is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
