Last Wednesday, Gainesville was fully in charge, breezing past North Stafford 69-24 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Gainesville has managed all season.
It was another big night for Madison McKenzie, who scored 24 points along with four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Gainesville's points. Leylani Abraham was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Deep Creek put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Nansemond River with a sharp 61-39 win. Given Deep Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Nansemond River is ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gainesville's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.42 points. As for Deep Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
