Softball Recap: Iota Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

Iota had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the St. Edmund Fighting Blue Jays get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Haydyn Schexnayder made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charli Sonnier, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Aubrey Douget was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases.

Iota pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for St. Edmund, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Iota will be playing at home against Kinder at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Kinder 3.3, Iota 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for St. Edmund, they will face off against Iowa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Iowa knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully St. Edmund likes a good challenge.
