Kylie Powell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellison Wood, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kaylie Evatt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Powdersville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 11 consecutive contests.
Powdersville pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carolina Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.
Carolina Academy suffered a grim 31-0 defeat to Powdersville when the teams last played back in March. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
