Baseball Game Preview: Eastridge Lancers vs. School of the Arts Silverhawks

Eastridge is a perfect 4-0 against School of the Arts since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Silverhawks at 4:45 p.m. Eastridge's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so School of the Arts' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Eastridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Edison Tech on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Inventors: they've now won five in a row.

Aaden Bishop made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Inglese, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Bishop, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Eastridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, School of the Arts came up short against Greece Olympia on Friday and fell 6-2. The Silverhawks have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Henry Hawkinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Eastridge's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for School of the Arts, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything went Eastridge's way against School of the Arts in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as Eastridge made off with a 13-2 victory. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Silverhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
