Football Recap: Lakewood Wins Going Away Against Clearwater

Lakewood won the last time they faced Clearwater and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans blew past the Tornadoes 28-7. Fans of the Spartans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Ayden Wallace was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 242 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 55 yards and one score on only five carries. A healthy portion of Wallace's aerial production (95 yards to be exact) went to Dmari Roberts, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lakewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 164 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Despite the loss, Clearwater still got an impressive performance from Jaylen White, who rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 181 yards on only 15 passes.

Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Clearwater, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakewood will square off against Pinellas Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clearwater, they will take on Clearwater Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
