Two dominant signal callers in Tommy Williams and Jerry Meyer iii are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Incline Highlanders will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Mead Academy Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Incline sitting on five straight victories and Lake Mead Academy on seven.
With a playoff game on the line, Incline rose to the challenge on Friday. They snuck past Battle Mountain with a 21-16 win.
Incline can attribute much of their success to Colin Combs, who picked up 204 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Williams, who threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns. Combs' longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Meanwhile, Lake Mead Academy stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past White Pine 63-0 at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lake Mead Academy had established a 56 point advantage.
Meyer iii continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 191 yards and six touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Meyer iii is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Christian Rhodes also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.
Incline's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.3 points per game. As for Lake Mead Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Incline has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 159.7 rushing yards per game.
