Even though the Campbellsville Eagles scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, the Monroe County Falcons still came out on top. Monroe County rang in the new year with a 64-57 win over Campbellsville. Given Monroe County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Campbellsville is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Campbellsville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Deondre Weathers. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Keondre Weathers, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Monroe County's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Campbellsville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe County will take on Foundation Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Campbellsville, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Meade County at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th.
