Mountain Vista faced Rock Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Jaguars 53-14. Fans of the Golden Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Ariana Akey produced another solid effort throwing for 255 yards and seven TDs while completing 72% of her passes, and also rushing for 108 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Akey is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: she's passed for at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Kayleigh Besch was Akey's top target, picking up 88 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Mountain Vista didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Braelynn Looney and Lauren Culebro.

Mountain Vista's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Rock Canyon, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.

Mountain Vista wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 54-6 victory against Valor Christian on the 25th. As for Rock Canyon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 32-12 defeat against Chaparral on the 27th.
