After a string of five wins, South Elgin's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Conant Cougars. The Storm were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
While South Elgin had to take the loss, they sure made a game of it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19.
Ethan Howell paced South Elgin's offense, picking up six kills. Howell got some help from Damian Hernandez and his eight assists. Luka Jovanovic controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
South Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Conant, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Elgin will welcome Bartlett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Conant, they will be playing at home against Schaumburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saxons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
