The Lake Placid Dragons pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Frostproof. While losing is never fun, Lake Placid can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while Frostproof is ranked 267th).
When it comes to explaining why Lake Placid lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dj Bullard. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Bullard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Keveun Mason was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Leading Frostproof to victory were Turral Berry and Sevastian Rosado. Berry scored 15 points along with eight assists and seven steals, while Rosado scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rosado has scored at least a third of Frostproof's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daiveon Pittman, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lake Placid has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Frostproof, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Placid will square off against DeSoto County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. DeSoto County is on a six-game streak of home losses, Lake Placid a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Frostproof, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Meade at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Meade is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.5 points per game.
