The Virgin Valley Bulldogs will challenge the Sports Leadership & Management Bulls at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Virgin Valley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Virgin Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over Chaparral on Wednesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Daxton Noel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Noel was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Mason Montoya was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Goodsell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Virgin Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Sports Leadership & Management and Moapa Valley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Sports Leadership & Management fell 12-7 to Moapa Valley on Wednesday. The Bulls have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.
Audric Gregorio put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Sports Leadership & Management is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Gregorio was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Alexander Huerta made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Gabe Ripley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Virgin Valley's victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Everything went Virgin Valley's way against Sports Leadership & Management when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Virgin Valley made off with a 16-0 win. Will Virgin Valley repeat their success, or does Sports Leadership & Management have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
