Marion proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Poteet Aggies 4-2. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Alyson Robles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Maggie Luna was incredible, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gianna Ricarte was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Marion hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matches.
