The Animas Panthers won the last time they faced the Reserve Mountaineers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Animas walked away with a 51-38 victory over Reserve.
Animas can attribute much of their success to Cadence Green, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Green has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Laikyn Davenport, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Animas' win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Reserve, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.
Animas and Lordsburg will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Lordsburg is ranked 90th, while Animas is ranked 65th). As for Reserve, they will head out on the road to challenge Magdalena at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Magdalena focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday.
