Memorial is a perfect 10-0 against Northbrook since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will welcome the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
While Memorial's victory against Cypress Creek wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cougars 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.
Memorial got a massive performance out of Sophie Vlasak, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Vlasak is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Parker Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Vlasak wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Memorial lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Creek didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Northbrook was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against Cypress Ridge, falling 16-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost seven in a row.
Northbrook saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliana Rivera, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Northbrook's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 18-3.
Northbrook's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Memorial has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Northbrook, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Memorial's sizable advantage in that area, the Raiders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Memorial took their victory against Northbrook in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 13-0 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
