Chancellor had lost 14 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-8 to make it 15. They lost 26-8 to the Westmoreland Eagles. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.
Chancellor saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Smith also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Another was Adi Anderson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Westmoreland, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4. Considering they have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
On Westmoreland's side, Emma Burgess made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Burgess has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Teagan Clarke looked comfortable as she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs and two stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Back at the plate, Brooklyn Wheeler was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Jett, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Chancellor is taking a road trip to square off against King George at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westmoreland, they will host Lancaster at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
