North Branford has gone 8-2 against Coginchaug Regional recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds will host the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. North Branford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
North Branford barely beat Hale Ray the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunderbirds' pitcher stepped up to hand the Noises a 19-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbirds, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Lauren Vitarisi made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Lexi Falcioni was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adriana Hills, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
North Branford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matches.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Coginchaug Regional and Valley Regional, and Coginchaug Regional kept the tradition alive. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Warriors 1-0 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won eight in a row.
Not much got past Emily Allen, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Valley Regional off the board.
North Branford pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Coginchaug Regional, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both North Branford and Coginchaug Regional just can't seem to miss. The Thunderbirds have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Coginchaug Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went North Branford's way against Coginchaug Regional when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as North Branford made off with a 7-1 win. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
