The Collinwood Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Perry County Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Collinwood will be strutting in after a win while Perry County will be coming in after a loss.
Collinwood posted their biggest win since December 4, 2023 two weeks ago. They blew past Hughes 57-28 at home. Given Collinwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Hughes is ranked 374th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Perry County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to Summertown 49-43.
Despite their defeat, Perry County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kaylee Byrd, who scored 12 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Cianna Wilson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Collinwood pushed their record up to 5-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Perry County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Collinwood came up short against Perry County in their previous meeting on January 5th, falling 44-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Perry County's Maddi Wright, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
