The Passaic Valley Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Vernon Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Passaic Valley never let their opponents score. They blew past Millburn 41-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Passaic Valley, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Vernon had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They took down Sussex County Tech 35-16.
It was another big night for Logan Pych, who rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Pych hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games.
The victory makes it two in a row for Passaic Valley and bumps their season record up to 5-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37 points. As for Vernon, their victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Passaic Valley beat Vernon 20-12 in their previous matchup back in October of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for Passaic Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
