The Center Cougars lost against the Marysville Indians back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Center opened the new year with a less-than-successful 54-46 defeat to Marysville. Center has struggled against Marysville recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Terrill Reid, who scored eight points along with seven assists. Victor Routh was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Marysville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dennis Syders out in front who scored 16 points along with three steals. Syders is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Arrington, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Center's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Marysville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Center will be playing at home against Sutter at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sutter has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Marysville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Colfax at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
