Galesburg Christian is 7-2 against Morning Star Academy since November of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Galesburg Christian Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Morning Star Academy Mustangs at 5:00 p.m.
Galesburg Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a hard 50-36 fall against Quad Cities Christian.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Grace Potter, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Lydia Reed, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Morning Star Academy strolled past Unity Christian with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-17. The win made it back-to-back wins for Morning Star Academy.
Morning Star Academy found their leader in underclassman Violet Jewell, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Ammann, who scored seven points along with three blocks and two steals.
Galesburg Christian's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. As for Morning Star Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Galesburg Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Morning Star Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 21.7 rebounds per game. Given Galesburg Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Morning Star Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Galesburg Christian strolled past Morning Star Academy in their previous matchup on January 5th by a score of 45-27. Will Galesburg Christian repeat their success, or does Morning Star Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
