The Grantsville Cowboys will head out to square off against the Cedar Reds at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grantsville will be strutting in after a win while Cedar will be coming in after a defeat.
While Cowboys fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Monday's season opener. Everything went their way against Hunter on Monday as Grantsville made off with an 11-0 victory. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Jordan Fawson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other pitching news, Mason Butler looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, Krue Warren was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Easton Hammond, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Grantsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunter only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, Cedar lost 12-2 to Pine View on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Reds in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Payton Ludlow made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Grantsville was able to grind out a solid victory over Cedar in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 15-11. Will Grantsville repeat their success, or does Cedar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
