Softball Game Preview: Breckenridge Buckaroos vs. Dublin Lions

Breckenridge is a perfect 8-0 against Dublin since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Breckenridge Buckaroos will be playing at home against the Dublin Lions at 5:00 p.m. Neither Breckenridge nor Dublin posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Last Friday, Breckenridge didn't have quite enough to beat Early and fell 3-2. The Buckaroos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Olyvia Perez put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Perez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ally Reyes, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Breckenridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Early struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, Dublin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to Comanche. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Dublin's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Breckenridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9-1.

Everything went Breckenridge's way against Dublin when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Breckenridge made off with a 16-0 victory. Will Breckenridge repeat their success, or does Dublin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
