Softball Recap: Oak Hill Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Oak Hill waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Whitko Wildcats 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Pathie Speicher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jolee Hawkins, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lex Myers, who went 3-for-5 with two runs.

Oak Hill's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Whitko, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Looking ahead, Oak Hill will welcome Eastbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Whitko, they are taking a road trip to take on Manchester at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Squires have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
