The Escalante Moquis can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Freedom Prep Academy 67-40 on the road. The victory was just what Escalante needed coming off of a 68-45 defeat in their prior contest.
Leading Escalante to victory were Kendal Gardner and Jaxen Cottam. Gardner scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Cottam shot 6-for-8 from deep and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cottam has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mac Porter, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Escalante's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Freedom Prep Academy, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Escalante won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Escalante focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Freedom Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Intermountain Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom Prep Academy is facing Intermountain Christian at the right time seeing as Intermountain Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
