South Johnston has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Currituck County Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, South Johnston didn't have too much trouble with West Johnston at home as they won 25-7.
South Johnston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Williams, who rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown. Williams was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Another player making a difference was Riley Adams, who rushed for 45 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Currituck County got themselves on the board against First Flight on Friday, but First Flight never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Nighthawks 38-0 on the road. Considering Currituck County has won four contests by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Currituck County can attribute much of their success to Devin Duke, who threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jamie Dance got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
South Johnston's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 19.67 points. As for Currituck County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
