Blue Island Eisenhower hasn't had much luck against Shepard recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Astros at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Blue Island Eisenhower got the win against Cristo Rey Jesuit by a conclusive 23-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Adriel Castro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Castro was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Blue Island Eisenhower is undefeated when Castro posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Alejandro Correa looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Blue Island Eisenhower's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).
Back at the plate, Adrian Torres was a standout: he scored four runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Barcena, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Blue Island Eisenhower hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Shepard never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on Joliet Central with a sharp 15-0 win. The Astros' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Shepard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Blue Island Eisenhower, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-6.
