The Meade Buffaloes came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Ashland 51-33. Given Meade's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Ashland is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Meade to victory were Sayler Stapleton and Carlie Martin. Stapleton scored 19 points along with four steals, while Martin scored ten points along with five steals. Stapleton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Dallas Sherman was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meade has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Ashland, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Meade will face off against Hodgeman County at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Hodgeman County is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Ashland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pawnee Heights at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th.
